The Triple Crown horse race championship ends with the Belmont Stakes race. Because of its distance and status as the race that can make or break a Triple Crown champion, the Belmont Stakes has been the venue for some of the most famous moments in American racing. It usually taking place in June in a yearly basis and this time it will be taking place June 6, in Belmont Park at Elmont New York.

The Park itself has some interesting features. It can hold up to 18000 cars, and that is one of the reasons it makes this track very attractive. It can hold up to 90000 people in total in which 33000 of them can be sitting to watch the race.

The Belmont Stakes, the final and most demanding leg of the Triple Crown, is named after August Belmont who had been a leading banker and racing man of the 19th century. He was also the first President of the Jockey Club in 1867.

A crowd of 85,818, the largest in New York Racing history, attended the 1999 running, hoping to see Charismatic become Racing’s 12th Triple Crown winner but it finished third in that race. This year, we don’t have a winner of Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes racing, but at least we have a horse that has ran both of them and that at least gives us the opportunity to watch its performance along the three races.

The Triple Crown Race championship is done for the year and we have the results that show how close the champion of the Kentucky Derby was to win again in the final race of the series. The winner of the competition was Summer Bird, which was predicted not to be showing that good results, the second place was for Dunkirk which was rated as one of the most important horses of the race and the third place was for Mine That Bird which showed an excellent performance during the entire series.
