Curlin is heading back to dirt for his next race - the Woodward Stakes at Saratoga - but his majority owner says that doesn't necessarily mean the turf experiment is over.Jess Jackson announced Tuesday that the reigning Horse of the Year will next run in the $500,000 Grade I Woodward on Aug. 30.Curlin made his turf debut last month, finishing second in the Man o'War Handicap at Belmont Park.

Jockey Edgar Prado and trainer Carl Nafzger, who between them have three Kentucky Derby wins, led a group of six new inductees into the National Museum of Racing Hall of Fame on Monday.Inducted with Prado and Nafzger were retired jockey Ismael Valenzuela and three horses: Manila, Inside Information and Ancient Title.

Black Mamba defeated I Can See by a half-length to win Sunday's $400,000 John C. Mabee Handicap at Del Mar after being trapped along the rail until deep in the stretch.Ridden by Garrett Gomez, Black Mamba ran 1 1-8 miles on the turf in 1:47.11 and paid $3.80, $3 and $2.40 as the odds-on favorite."I was concerned down inside there. Red Giant overtook Stalingrad in the final strides to score a neck victory in the $150,000 Fourstardave Handicap at Saratoga Race Course on Sunday.John Velazquez rode the Todd Pletcher-trained 4-year-old, who ended a 10-month absence from competition with the win on a turf course softened by a brief but heavy storm that hit the area shortly before post time.Velazquez, while saving ground, rated Red Giant behind a strong pace set by Inca King.

Del Mar will reduce purses by 3.5 percent, the first reduction in more than 30 years.The cuts, which begin Aug. 13, will amount to about $10,000 per day, according to Michael Ernst, the seaside track's chief operating officer.The reductions were triggered by a downturn in on-track handle and a slowdown in account wagering business, he said Friday.

Highland Torree and Coco Belle won divisions of the $75,000 C.E.R.F. Handicap on Friday at Del Mar.Ridden by Martin Garcia, Highland Torree rallied from off the pace to win the opening division of the six-furlong sprint for older distaffers by a length.She covered the distance in 1:09.17 and paid $8, $3.80 and $2.60.La Tee returned $8.60 and $4.80, while Tizsweetdreams paid $2.80 to show.The victory was worth $47,910 to Highland Torree, who has five wins in 15 career starts.

Any Limit took a clear lead at the break and was never threatened in the $150,000 Honorable Miss Stakes for fillies and mares Friday at Saratoga Race Course.Cornelio Velasquez rode the Allen Jerkens-trained 5-year-old mare, who won by 5 3/4 lengths. Amy Limit ran 6 furlongs in 1:09.98 and paid $15.60.Zada Belle was second.
